Oh keeper of the righteous Grateful Dead flame please point us lemmings in the right direction. Pied piper of the hippiedom lead us to the enlightenment you have found.

Going to see PF is fun, get it; FUN. No, it's not the same as a Dead show, but what the hell is these days? Hookah? String Cheese? WSP? It's just a good time to get a bunch of like minded people together and to dance to some pretty damned good stuff. How many musical directions did the bass player from DSO lead Jerry or Bobby down? No one will every replace Jerry's poignant and heartfelt vocals or his amazing ability to play so "sweetly".

Still, it's great to get and see this type of offering and that of other jam bands. To see the young kids that are drawn to it and know that the magic we got to see captured in a jar is still sought by a new generation. To see old friends and make new ones that share a kindred dynamic on what fun and music should be.

I went to Dead shows ultimately for one reason. I wasn't there for deep spiritual enlightenment (though it was given to me in spades). I was there because the MUSIC made me happy and it was a heck of a lot of fun. It was simply a place to have a ton of fun with thousands and thousands of like minded brothers and sisters. Simply put, that is what going to Phil and Friends is about for me; being part of music that still makes me happy.

yeah, i can reiterate this in spades. it was the same with dead tour too: people kvetching about shows even though they were blessed with a show.

we can't make people appreciate the moment. at the very least, we can remind them to here.

nuff said.
